- If a committee was formed last meeting to begin superintendent interviews. How many candidates did this committee vet, sit down and interview within 3 1/2 weeks? Dr. Ruberto may very well be a wonderful choice for school, but the BoE’s lack on movement through the summer have done her no favors as she appears best available instead of just the best for the job and truly through no fault of her own. She will also have the unfortunate task of addressing the reputational and operational damage created by former superintendent & current BoE. She deserves our respect and patience for stepping up to the challenge. We hope neighbors & parents give her an honest chance and we look forward to working with her if all of us are selected.
- Detailed information pertaining to the $2.8M Bond referendum will not be discussed but will happen at two unknown dates later.
- Food Service Equipment upgrades are needed because we could lose our new free breakfast program if needs are ignored.
- The school is spending a lot of money on adding two additional teams of outside counsel.
- AD HOC (Strategic Planning) have not met another month to discuss personnel and strategy. And the Finance and Facilities committee are tasking the future administration with funding new newsletters and mailers to fix communication issues. Does this include the upcoming bond referendum and current LRP?
- We hope this meeting is zoomed and recorded for neighbors as well as all meetings moving forward as requested by the community for years. We believe those technologies were part of this year’s near $1/2M in excess costs and seemed to work well at the regionalization meeting.
- When we join the board, this silliness of executive sessions taking place mid-meeting will end. The ongoing practice of having our neighbors kick rocks in the parking lot to participate & be heard can’t be anything but intentional. No neighbor should feel BoE has distain for them and we’re unsure of any procedural benefit to splitting public sessions in half. An immediate change is needed so that parents and neighbors know the BoE values their time and input. Public sessions will be combined to encourage the most participation whenever possible.
- The fact that the June ‘24 Board of Education meeting minutes are still not posted or accessible to the public three months later would lead us to believe the New Executive Assistant is not at fault for the lateness of September’s agenda. It’s the executives, not the assistant.
- Nothing on the agenda addresses academic performance, the former superintendent’s actions, the false information on state forms, or further explanations of LRP funding.
- By all appearances, it’s business as usual.
