Over $10,000 more than our neighbors in Bethlehem and Union. A FTS board member countered that number at the end of the meeting by stating the cost was $23K and implied that he was not accurate. We agree that the state published a $23k\/student figure but when you actually look into the data from the Regionalization Study Report (9\/5\/24) the reality is much different.<\/p>\n<p>According to the study the BOE just released and hosted a three hour meeting for, the raw data from the district operating budgets from 2023 says this:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bethlehem spends: $24,427\/per student.<\/li>\n<li>Union spends: $25,737\/per student<\/li>\n<li>Franklin Township spends: $35,208\/per student<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.0&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Below is a simplified chart on how this breaks down with supporting data.<\/p>\n<p>The formula used this: (OPERATING COST \/ STUDENT POPULATION = COST PER STUDENT)<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=&#8221;https:\/\/neighborswantingchange.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/school-finances-1-4-scaled.jpg&#8221; title_text=&#8221;school-finances-1-4&#8243; align_tablet=&#8221;center&#8221; align_last_edited=&#8221;on|desktop&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.5&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;%22default%22&#8243; animation_style=&#8221;slide&#8221; animation_direction=&#8221;left&#8221; animation_duration=&#8221;500ms&#8221; animation_intensity_slide=&#8221;10%&#8221; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; align_phone=&#8221;center&#8221;][\/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;%22default%22&#8243; background_size=&#8221;initial&#8221; background_position=&#8221;top_left&#8221; background_repeat=&#8221;repeat&#8221; hover_enabled=&#8221;%220%22&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>A few key points:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>We are paying $9,471 more than Union per student. (A Two School System)<br \/>&#8211; FTS would need to add 98 students and no additional expenses to match Union\u2019s \u2018Cost Per Student.\u2019<\/li>\n<li>We are paying $10,781 more than Bethlehem per student (Also, a Two School System)<br \/>\u2043 FTS would need to add 118 students and no additional expenses to match Bethlehem\u2019s \u2018Cost Per Student.\u2019<\/li>\n<li>The board member was most likely citing the very website that we\u2019ve shown was littered with false information placed by the district &amp; former superintendent. State numbers may be a reflection of school-level fiscal data that our district submitted and\/or intentionally has not been updated. Which is just another thing worth looking into by our BOE president. We\u2019re not entirely sure how the state created the $23K figure. If anyone out there knows, we\u2019re willing to learn. What\u2019s notable is that Union and Bethlehem\u2019s per student costs more closely line up between the study and the state\u2019s website than FTS\u2019s does.<br \/>\u2043 Either way, if the financial data on the study is accurate, FTS would have needed an additional 124 students for the 23K \u2018Cost Per Student\u2019 to even remotely be accurate in 2023. Mathematically, what the board member said is improbable.<\/li>\n<li>Like the fake achievements on awful scores, BOE members continue to show their willingness to situationally grab at straws to counter honest criticism without ever looking into the truth behind the numbers they are referencing.<\/li>\n<li>FTS\u2019 24-25 operating budget is 6%+ higher fueled by the massive tax levy increase, meaning that Franklin\u2019s per student cost is most certainly even higher than study would indicate.<\/li>\n<li>The BOE was right about one thing, facts are important.
