The Board shared on 22-Aug that there is an ongoing search for an Interim Superintendent which we assume is being led by Union. We believe that any candidate for Interim Superintendent must be able to address the following questions:

  • What experience do you have in district consolidations?
  • What is your experience of improving performance of schools that are only just passing state standards?
  • What would be a 30/60/90 day action plan to achieve immediate improvements in school performance?
  • What programs would you introduce to address systemic bullying issues at a school and in what districts have those program successfully reduced bullying levels?
  • What communications would you initiate to clearly share with the community the facilities plan, including capital investments and mitigation plans for equipment where investment is deferred?

Furthermore what is the timeline for selecting a permanent Superintendent and how is the search being conducted, and will Franklin have any role in the search for either the interim or permanent Superintendent other than a straight up/down vote on Union’s choice?

We encourage members of the community to comment on these questions and to add additional questions if appropriate. It is important that the Board selects a candidate that will focus on the issues important to our students and the community at large.
